Marine Stakeholders Event - Sharing the Sea

Date: 14th March 2007
Time: 14.00-17.30
Location: Church House Conference Centre, Westminster

On the afternoon of the 14th March BWEA will be facilitating an event around offshore stakeholders and statutory bodies views on wave and tidal stream development in the UK. This will be fully funded by COWRIE. This event is open to all and is free of charge. Numbers for this event will however have to be limited to the first 100 to register due to venue size.

Building upon the experience of the speakers, the intention for this afternoon is to discuss Strategic Environmental Assessment in order to ensure that this is conducted with confidence and that any information gaps are picked up and addressed early. It will also allow for key bodies in the consenting process to present what they are doing to understand the potential implications of marine renewables and what they would like to see industry and Government doing to help their decision making.

Two sessions of presentations will be conducted. These will be titled:

  • Navigation, Recreation and Maritime Safety
  • The UK Marine Environment

Either side of these there will be introductory presentations from DTI and The Crown Estate and a closing discussion on prioritising actions in order reduce uncertainties around deployment. This will be facilitated by both BWEA and the Crown Estate.
