Electromagnetic Fields Stage 1 report released for consultation (25th April 2006)

COWRIE is pleased to announce the release of the Electromagnetic Fields Stage 1 consultation report prepared by Cranfield University, CEFAS and CMACS. This is the first part of a two stage approach for the COWRIE EMF 2.0, where Stage 2 corresponds to an experimental mesocosm study.

The report is now available for review. The cabling industry, fishing industry representatives, wind farm developers and members of the COWRIE Environment Technical Working Group are hereby invited to assess the proposed methodology. Their opinions are sought on whether the proposed study will effectively duplicate windfarm cabling configurations and/or the type of electromagnetic fields that windfarm power cables produce in the natural environment.

The consultation report can be downloaded here.

Due to the importance of EMF impacts to the offshore wind industry and the marine environment, it is vital that COWRIE receives comments from all stakeholder organisations. We would be most grateful for your feedback.

Please download the evaluation form here and email it back to cowrie@naturebureau.co.uk with your comments by Tuesday 9th May 2006 at the latest.
