Assessment of the potential for acoustic deterrents to mitigate the impact on marine mammals of underwater noise arising from the construction of offshore wind farms (COWRIE DETER-01-07)

Potential contractors are invited to submit their proposals for the delivery of an assessment of the potential efficacy (or otherwise) of acoustic deterrents to mitigate the environmental impact on marine mammals arising from construction activities (primarily, but not restricted to pile driving) at offshore wind farm development sites.
Please note that due to the specialist nature of this tender, COWRIE requires that all applicants must clearly demonstrate their background expertise.

1 In the context of this project, the term marine mammals is used to refer to cetaceans and pinnipeds commonly found in UK waters with a particular focus on those species detected in the three UK strategic wind farm areas such as (but not exclusively) Harbour Porpoise, Bottlenose Dolphin, Common Dolphin, other small odontocetes and Common Seal and Grey Seals.
