The Data Management Technical Working Group was developed to provide specialist expertise in the field of data management. It consists of experts from a range of organisations. The working group is responsible for the provision of advice to the data management team and provides high level governance for the DIMP project.
The GeoData Institute are resonsible for COWRIE data management, including managing and developing the Data Information Management Plan.
The provision of all environmental data and information collected as part of developers' site investigations and environmental impact assessments is a condition of The Crown Estate's Agreement for Lease. Developers are required to provide the data and information so that it can be brought together in a comprehensive Data and Information Management Plan (DIMP). This is a unique and innovative approach to environmental data and requires specialist expertise as the DIMP must be sustainable in the long term (with some Round 2 leases being 50 years in length). The DIMP also incorporates new data and metadata produced by the COWRIE environmental research projects. A guidance booklet was launched that outlines the background to the development of the COWRIE data and information base that has been developed to provide support to the offshore renewables sector in meeting their lease requirements. The report includes guidance for developers on using the online information submission and data retrieval systems, and describes procedures for submitting and accessing data provided by developers and COWRIE-funded researchers. Copies are available by request from the COWRIE secretariat.
