COWRIE Data and Information Management Seminar

Monday 5th December 2005-11-25 IMAREST, 80 Coleman St, London
1000-1630

By Invitation Only

As a condition of all Round 2 offshore windfarm agreements developers are required to submit environmental data and information. The Crown Estate has also indicated that similar conditions will apply to all future marine renewable projects (whether wind, wave or tidal).

COWRIE will manage and make available this data and information and has appointed the Geodata Institute to develop and implement its data and information management system.

The COWRIE Data Management and Coordination programme provides proposals for collating, managing and making accessible the data and information from Round 2 offshore windfarm projects. The implementation of a Data and Information Management Plan (DIMP) will provide the infrastructure for developers to comply with the licence conditions in submitting environmental data and information during the complete lifecycle phases of the renewables projects.

Since the data and information supply will come primarily from developers and their consultants, COWRIE has organised a seminar to discuss the expectations and to help facilitate the submission of data.

The objectives of the developers' seminar are to:

  • Explain the role of COWRIE in data and information management
  • Explain the scale and nature of the expected contribution
  • Discuss the likely timescale and nature of the future data submission
  • Explain the process for data retrieval from COWRIE
  • Promote the role of developers' Data and Information Management Plans

The outcomes of the seminar will be:

  • An understanding of the developer's level of preparedness and capacity to submit data and information
  • The need for standards promotion
  • Guidance and tools to facilitate submissions

A consultation draft of the Data and Information Management Plan (DIMP) is available for download from here.
